U’14 Hurlers Win Cup Final

U14A Hurling Cup Final

Trim faced Kildalkey in Dunganny in this Cup final to finish off the U14 Hurling season.



Trim got off to a great start in the first 3 minutes when James Foley got the ball in the corner to pin point a pass to Josh Harris who hit the net. Kildalkey responded with a point. Then Foley managed to get the ball across the line after a scuffle in the Kildalkey box. Kildalkey responded with a goal to leave it 2.0 to 1.1 after 15 mins. Joey Cole then converted a long range free from his own 65 yrd line. Trim went on a rally then with points from Harris (0.2), the excellent Ciaran Caulfield, George Douglas(0.2) and Cole (0.3). Kildalkey responded with 1.1 to leave half time 2.10 to 2.2.



The second half started fast paced from both sides exchanging 1.1 each. Cole 0.1, Harris 1.0. Then Harris and Cole linked up for Cole to finish to the top corner from an accurate Harris pass. Cole put 3 more points on the board to put the game beyond Kildalkey. Kildalkey didn’t give up and got 1.1 back before Trim again pulled away with some excellent George Douglas points (0.2). Young Darragh Heffernan then got on the score board with a fine run and took it from a tight angle. Then Alan Costello got a long range goal which ended the game.



This was an excellent team performance by the Trim lads. With Sean Mulryan in Goals , Full back Harry Cottrell, Eoghan Ryan and Evan Smith each side of Cottrell. Half backs of Sammy Kennedy, Alan Costello and Fergus Reilly withstood anything Kildalkey threw at them. The midfield of Caulfield and Cole proved to be excellent throughout converting and constant attacks and defending. The half forward line of Tadgh Carthy, Khristian Gunning, George Douglas and full forward line of Harris, Foley and Rory Connor took all their chances that came their way. Subs Heffernan, Finn Maher and Sean Halton did their part with great effect.



Final Score. Trim 5.17 to Kildalkey 4.5
