History was possibly made in St Lomans Park last night when our our B League footballers scored 10-27 (47 points) to beat Nobber by 41 points on a final scoreline of 10-27 to 0-6 in the football B league decision 2.. Never in our history have we come across such an emphatic victory.
It was apparent early on that Nobber were struggling with just 15 players and seemed to be short many of their better lads but to their credit they beetled and bustled away at the Trim lads but were not capable of putting up enough resistance.
To the forefront of the Trim victory was full forward and ace clubman Stephen Doyle who by half time had rattled the right side of the Nobber net four times with four well taken goals. He was involved in every Trim attack and aside from his goals he laid off many other scores to the rampant forwards around him.
Close on the heels off Stephen in the scoring stakes were his two corner forwards Michael Cullen who scored 2-5 and Eoin O’Connor who clocked up 2-2. A total of 8-8 made for a mean lean Trim full forward line. The half forward line of Ciaran Giblin (0-2), Robbie kenny (1-1) and Dimi Higgins (1-3), not to be outshone fired over a total of 2-6 while centre field man, the in-form Ryan Andrews clocked up three neat points and wing back Paul Munnelly picked off one point from his many sorties up the field.
As the scoreline suggests it was a night for the Trim forwards but our defence was impenetrable with goalkeeper Alan Carey sound with ever accurate kickouts. All of the defenders to a man were in complete control of their patches and left no gaps in the Nobber scoring zone.
Well done to all on a momentous night.
