U’16 Hurlers Into Semi Final

U16 Hurling League result. Trim 2-10, Ratoath 0-5

 

 

Ratoath hosted Trim in the U16 Hurling league, the outcome which would decide who topped the group and who would be second going into the Semi Finals. Both teams were unbeaten going into this game. Ratoath opened the scoring from a ‘65 from Jason Farrell and was then followed by a ‘65 from Trim’s Mikey Cole. Both teams exchanged another free each leaving it 2 points each after a slow 15 minutes of hurling. The following 15 minutes was dominated by Trim who outscored their opponents. James Murray got 2 points from play. Cole scored another free and 2 more from play to leave a score line of  0-7 to 0-2 at half time. With the defence of Gary Fleming and Conor Quigley, who was excellent at centre back, they withstood any pressure from the Ratoath attack and helped Callum Buckley in goals keep a clean sheet. Harry Harlin made a welcome comeback to the hurling pitch at halftime after a few years out .

 

 

The second half resulted in a tough game of hurling with hard hits from both sides. Trim opened with another point from Cole  and then a well taken Murray goal which opened a bigger gap. Ratoath didn’t lie down and returned with 2 points. Joey Cole then took his goal chance well to put the contest  beyond reach. Murray added another point  and Mikey Cole another to finish on a scoreline of 2-10 to 0-5.
