Winning Start for Footballers

Corn Na Boinne Intermediate football cup Round 1 result – Trim 4-10, Curraha 2-12.



Trim travelled to Curraha on Sunday morning to play the local side in the first competitive game of the 2017 season. The game was a closely competitive affair and turned out to be a hard fought victory for the Trim lads. Twice during the  game Trim forged ahead by five but were reeled in by a resilient and dogged home side.



Curraha pointed in the first minute but by the twelfth minute Trim were ahead by five after clocking up 1-3 in a four minute period. Curraha got back on level terms by the twentieth minute with a 1-2 reply. In the final ten minutes of the half Trim fired in two goals to a mere point reply from the home side to leave the half time score at Trim 3-3 to Curraha’s 1-4, a five point margin.



The home side reacted better after the resumption and by the twelfth minute had six points clocked up to Trim’s one point reply to leave the scores level once again. Trim then hit 1-4 in a nine minute period to reach thetwenthird minute seven points in the lead. In the lead up to full time both sides hit two points apiece before Curraha got an injury time consolation score to leave the full time score at Trim 4-10, Curraha 1-12.
