Trim played with the breeze into the town goals in the first half. They got off the mark quickly with a Neill Heffernan point within the first minute. Both sides then traded two wides each between the fourth and eleventh minute but on twelve Trim hit a goal to be followed on fifteen with a Boardsmill point. Between the sixteenth and twenty fifth minute Trim hit over six points without reply to leave them nine points ahead but Boardsmill then hit back with a goal and two points in the space of three minutes to leave the half time score - Trim 1-7, Boardsmill 1-3.
Trim were fastest out of the traps at the beginning of the second half with two points in the first three minutes but Boardsmill answered the challenge immediately afterwards with a point and goal. Trim then hit four unanswered points to leave them six points ahead with ten minutes to go but the visitors did not relent and scored a goal and two points in the space of four minutes to leave them trailing by one point. The home side hit over two points in the last six minutes to leave the full time score – Trim 1-15, Boardsmill 3-6.
Trim were the more consistent team throughout but Boardsmill kept in touch with three scoring spurts, one in the first half and two in the second which resulted in 3-5 of their score.
