Juvenile Club News

Trim U13 girls bowed out of the championship after a very entertaining game in Trim on Saturday. Playing against the wind in the first half the Trim girls worked very hard to keep their opponents at bay. However it was the Stamullen girls who were quickest off the blocks with the opening score after 5 minutes. Trim battled well and were unlucky not to reap the rewards of some good moves. Towards the end of the half St Pats got some good scores and went into the break 3 points ahead. Trim came out in the second half determined to get back into the game but were unlucky to concede a goal early in the half. Rather than lie down Trim came storming back and scored 3 unanswered points. At this stage both teams were giving it everything and put on a wonderful display of all the skills of Garlic Football. Trim threw everything at their opponents and were unlucky to come up against a very resolute St Pats defence and only a fantastic save denied Leanne Coffey a goal which would have left Trim level. As Trim put everything into attack St Pats broke and scored a second goal. Despite this setback Trim continued to push forward but it was not to be as St Patricks ran our winners and advanced to next weeks final. This was a wonderful game and the large Trim support saw their team push a very talented opposition all the way. This team can be very proud of their recent performances and are a great credit to their club and families. They have worked hard all year and the level of skill and commitment shown by all these girls has been remarkable. Their disappointment after Saturdays game was very evident but every one of them can be very proud of their progress this year. A notable feature of recent games has been the large number of (very noisy ) family and friends who have come out to support the girls and help create a wonderful atmosphere at their games.

Team: Ciara Hanson, Leanne Coffey, Lisa Rochford, Lorraine Mulhaire, Niamh Cooke, Yvonne Coffey, Anna Bolger, Karly Leavy, Dervla Fahy, Lucy Gormley, Lauren Fagan, Katie Flynn, Aideen Downes, Laura McEvoy.
